Topic: RE: Medicaid??
I am also awaiting approval from Medicaid so I don't know how long it takes them. I just found out today @ my pre-op appt that I wasn't already approved- I've done everything and have had a surgery date for awhile now, so I thought I was all good. It sounds like not only is your BMI high enough but, if you have been diagnosed and are being treated for the sleep apnea and asthma then you also would have qualifying co-morbidity's. So, Yes, I think you should be fine and get APPROVED for WLS! Please let me know how it goes, so I will have an idea of how long the turn around time is for them.
Best of luck on your new life!

I was wondering if any one got the surgery through colorado medicaid? I just started seeing a surgeon last month and have already provided 6 months of weight loss with my endocrinologist, I have done and been cleared with a spych eval, and got blood work to check my thyroid which was normal! I have my appointment tomorrow to submit and I am so nervous ! They got the pre auth over the phone at my first appointment ... I have PCOS, Insulin resistance, chronic back pain, pelvic pain and pelvic nerve damage, skin problems, and mild sleep apnea, ashma, shortness of breath all teh time and urinary incontinence and hypothyroidism,
Opinions please? Do you think I will be denied or approved
I am 5'3 and weigh 267 and I am almost 21 i think my bmi was about 48-50
How long does it usually take medicaid to get an answer back ?

Thank you so much for your help.  It is really nice to hear from someone who actually had this procedure done with the same surgeon.  I am so happy to hear everything is going so well and the surgery went well also.  I have a baby and I fear of something terrible happening to me.
Did you talk to a lot of people who had the procedure done to reduce your fears?

Also, I read a lot on this site for people that have had RNY-that you can go back to old habits of not eating healthy-do you think a long term support group would be helpful?  I only ask because there isn't one in the town where I live-but there is one online here at OH.
Thanks again for your help!

One more thing - you asked how I came to chose Dr. Chae. A friend of mine's husband had it done by Dr. Chae. She was in my accounting class and highly recommended him. I did my research and really liked what I learned. Thus, I went with him.

SkyRidge are very attentive and made me feel very comfortable. The anaesthesiologist was also very good.

The recovery wasnt bad at all. I was in very little pain if any. I didnt get much sleep and getting to the bathroom was a pain because I was all hooked up. Yet, all in all, it went very smoothly.

You will be uncomfortable for probably a month afterward. Once things begin to heal and you are on pureed foods, you will really begin to notice a difference. The 10-14 days of pure liquids are tough but its a good way to begin the healing.

Youre in really good hands.

All the best!

You are in REALLY good hands with Dr. Chae. He is a great surgeon and his team are excellent as well.

I had the RNY. It was the best decision I EVER made. It went very smoothly although I was scared during the prep. However, the nurses at
